Oak boards being nailed down over an upstairs landing during a hardwood install

Hardwood floor installation in Lula, GA

Solid and engineered hardwood, laid over a subfloor we have checked and fixed first.

Hardwood installation

Real wood, laid over a deck we have checked.

Hardwood is the floor people mean when they say they want real floors. It is warm underfoot, it ages well, and a solid board can be sanded and refinished many times over the life of the house. We install solid and engineered hardwood from Lula across North Georgia, from a single bedroom to a whole main level.

Most jobs start with something coming out: old carpet and pad, tired laminate, or vinyl lifting at the seams. Once the subfloor is bare we check it for soft spots, squeaks and high spots, because a new floor is only as flat as the deck under it.

What the job includes

From tear-out to the last piece of trim

  1. Tear-out

Carpet, pad, tack strip and staples come up, so the new floor starts on a clean deck.

  2. Subfloor check

Soft spots, squeaks and old water damage get repaired before a single board goes down.

  3. Layout

Board direction, starting lines and transitions are planned so rows run straight through doorways and down halls.

  4. Installation

Solid boards are nailed down. Engineered boards are nailed, glued or floated, depending on the product and what sits underneath.

  5. Trim and transitions

Thresholds, reducers and stair nosing are fitted so the new floor meets tile, carpet and stairs cleanly.

Hardwood installation questions

Solid or engineered hardwood?

Solid hardwood can be sanded more times over its life and suits most rooms above grade. Engineered hardwood handles humidity swings better and is the usual pick over concrete. Jonathan can lay samples of both on your floor at the estimate.

Prefinished or finished on site?

Prefinished boards arrive with the finish already on, so you can walk on them right away. Site-finished boards get sanded and coated after they are installed, which gives a flatter surface and lets you pick a custom stain color.

How long does an install take?

It depends on the square footage and how much work the subfloor needs. You get a timeline with your free estimate, before anything is torn out.
